About the position

The Sr Process Engineer will provide technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing environment, focusing on improving production efficiencies and ensuring compliance with quality standards. This role involves leading the development and optimization of manufacturing processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that new product designs are compatible with manufacturing capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area.
  • Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies.
  • Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications.
  • Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods.
  • Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure compatibility of processes and designs.
  • Develops and conducts statistical analysis or recommends additions to document work.
  • Leads the innovation, development, and optimization of new manufacturing concepts and processes.
  • Develops manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control.
  • Ensures processes and procedures comply with regulations.
  • Leads process development, design transfer, and validation activities for neuromodulation devices.
  • Participates in design and development activities, such as tolerance stack analysis and failure analysis.
  • Researches and implements technology solutions and methodologies like Design, Reliability & Manufacturability (DRM).
  • Supports process characterization and validation activities to ensure cost-effective manufacturing cycles.
  • Ensures suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services according to company standards.
  • Qualifies suppliers through rigorous assessment and evaluation of procedures.
  • Monitors supplier performance throughout the manufacturing cycle.
  • Evaluates and improves suppliers' internal functions and quality management systems.
  • Provides technical guidance for Supplier Quality engagement throughout the New Product Development lifecycle.
  • Facilitates communication between design engineering, advanced manufacturing engineering, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Supports design and manufacturing teams to enhance device functionality and manufacturability.
  • Engages with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Identifies and carries out practical actions to solve technical problems using project management and six sigma tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or technical field.
  • Advanced knowledge of job area combining breadth and depth, typically obtained through advanced education and experience.
  • Ability to clearly document work and present ideas and test results to various audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively as a dynamic team player on cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability assessment.
  • Experience in Design transfer/Process Validation.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and design of experiments (DoE).
  • Medical device industry experience.
  • Self-driven engineer with leadership capabilities in process development activities.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in process characterization/development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing products from concept phase to production release.
  • Medtronic DRM certification.
  • Strong experience with development of new processes at suppliers and/or within internal manufacturing.
