About the position

As a Senior Process Engineer at Velocys, you will play a pivotal role in the development and optimization of sustainable fuels technology. Your expertise will be crucial in designing and implementing processes that convert waste into valuable energy resources. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our projects meet both technical and regulatory requirements while also aligning with our sustainability goals. This position requires a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, process design, and project management, as you will be responsible for leading engineering efforts from concept through to execution. In this role, you will be tasked with conducting feasibility studies, developing process flow diagrams, and performing detailed engineering calculations. You will also be involved in troubleshooting existing processes and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Collaboration with other engineers, scientists, and stakeholders will be essential to ensure that all aspects of the projects are integrated effectively. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional development. Your work will directly impact the company's ability to deliver innovative solutions in the renewable energy sector, making a significant contribution to the fight against climate change. Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and optimization of processes for converting waste to energy.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and develop process flow diagrams.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations and simulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in the energy or chemical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of process design and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in renewable energy or sustainable fuels sector.
