About the position

Join Esri's marketing design team to craft engaging user experiences using Calcite Brand, Esri's design system. This role involves developing and documenting foundational design components, collaborating with designers and developers to ensure consistency and functionality across esri.com. You will promote a design-first mindset and expand the reach of location-based technology, requiring a strong understanding of user-centered design and interaction design principles.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architecting the Figma environment, enhancing UI kits and component files.
• Define detailed design specifications for components in Figma, including anatomy, states, types, and accessibility.
• Create component documentation for consistent usage guidelines.
• Facilitate design reviews with internal and external teams, incorporating feedback into designs.
• Partner with researchers and the UX team to validate component usability and advocate for best practices.
• Provide design direction on component usage and facilitate educational demos for users and developers.
• Engage with front-end developers to ensure consistency between Figma components and the development environment.
• Participate in design systems conferences to learn and apply innovative practices.
• Mentor junior designers and participate in design critiques.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing and delivering products for web and mobile platforms.
• Portfolio showcasing successful management of design systems.
• Proven ability to take ownership and drive results beyond expected duties.
• Passion for continuous improvement and innovative design practices.
• Ability to facilitate workshops and present design concepts to large audiences.
• Experience using Figma and adhering to established pattern libraries.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience designing for Adobe Experience Manager.
• Familiarity with GitHub and front-end technologies (Stencil, JavaScript, Angular, Ember, React, HTML, CSS, Storybook).
• Experience coding interactive prototypes or component samples.
