As a Senior Product Designer for the ArcGIS Map Viewer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of our web-mapping application. The Map Viewer is a powerful tool that enables users to view, explore, and create interactive web maps within ArcGIS Online. Your designs will help users tell stories, answer questions, and solve real-world problems through the effective use of maps. In this collaborative environment, you will work closely with other designers and product developers to create mapping experiences that connect people, locations, and data, ultimately driving positive change in the world. In this position, you will engage in participatory and iterative design techniques, working alongside developers, product managers, and cross-functional team members to design end-to-end mapping experiences. You will coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements and specifications for both new and existing features, ensuring that the designs meet user needs and business objectives. Your responsibilities will include developing personas, user journeys, information architecture diagrams, wireframes, visual designs, and prototypes that effectively communicate your design vision. You will also be responsible for identifying enhancements to product designs through user research, including usability testing, surveys, and customer interviews. By collaborating with leadership and stakeholders, you will suggest and implement improvements to team processes, ensuring that the design solutions you present address business, brand, and user requirements. As a design leader, you will advocate for user-centered design principles and stay updated on the latest product design technologies and trends. Your role will involve conducting peer reviews, gathering usability feedback, and assessing the quality of implementations of your designs and those of your colleagues. Effective communication of conceptual ideas, design rationale, and the specifics of the user-centered design process will be essential as you work with developers, engineers, product managers, and other team members.
