About the position

Join the Client Communications team as a Senior Product Manager to help build the systems and capabilities that enable Northwestern Mutual to deliver an outstanding client experience at every touchpoint. The Digital Forms team within Client Communications serves as the custodians of digital forms for nearly every department within the organization. In this role, you will partner with a hard-working team of engineers, designers, data scientists, and financial experts to lead product features across a wide variety of initiatives. You will support nearly all portfolios across the organization to drive impactful solutions and influence the strategy to evolve forms management. As a Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for setting the product vision and ensuring appropriate positioning with key team members across the organization. You will champion the development, acceptance, and communication of the product roadmap, defining and tracking critical metrics for measuring success. Your role will involve gathering requirements through cross-functional collaboration to solicit key insights relative to the accountable product. You will define multiple low to medium complexity products and product features from start to finish, maintaining awareness and the ability to articulate the product story to a broader audience outside the internal team. You will partner with design teams to ensure cohesive future state user visions and experiences that align with a quarterly vision, understanding the total design process. Additionally, you will author user stories, translating requirements into technical details to build and validate use cases and user stories around a product. Advising product decisions with both qualitative and quantitative data on behavior and experimentation will be crucial. You will develop and maintain multiple prioritized backlogs of user stories for implementation according to business value or return on investment. Facilitating daily scrums, sprint planning meetings, and sprint reviews and retrospectives will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Set Product Vision: Responsible for product vision and appropriate positioning with key team members across the organization.
  • Develop Roadmap: Champion the development, acceptance and communication of roadmap.
  • Define and track critical metrics for measure of success.
  • Gather Requirements: Participate in cross functional work to solicit key requirements relative to the accountable product.
  • Define the product: Responsible for multiple low to medium complexity products and product features from start to finish.
  • Stakeholdering: Maintain the awareness and ability to articulate the product story to a broader audience outside the internal team.
  • Design Partnership: Partner with design to ensure cohesive future state user visions and experiences that are aligned with a quarterly vision with an understanding of the total design process.
  • Author User Stories: Translate requirements to technical details to build and validate use cases and user stories around a product and communicate them optimally.
  • Data & Customer Research: Advise product decisions with both qualitative and quantitative data on behavior and experimentation.
  • Feature Prioritization: Develop and maintain multiple prioritized backlog of user stories for implementation according to business value or return on investment.
  • Facilitate ceremonies: Facilitate the daily Scrums, Sprint Planning Meetings and Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4-5 Years of prior experience with at least 4 working in a Product Management Role, with agile team experience.
  • Knowledge Preferred: formal business analyst, engineering or testing experience, knowledge of the financial services industry, familiar with BI tools, certification or experience with Product Owner or Scrum Master role.
  • Demonstrated cross functional work in previous experience along with strong communication skills, time management, project management skills, eye for business and high self-awareness/EQ.
  • Demonstrated previous research experience, influence skills, initial leadership exposure, ability to translate product requirements into technical requirements, and work in ambiguity and solutioning.
  • Ability to solve complex problems; take a new point of view on existing solutions; exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
