About the position

The Senior Product Manager (PMT) for IT Services at Amazon will lead the IT Corporate New Hire Onboarding (NHO) team, focusing on delivering a seamless, defect-free, self-service IT onboarding experience for new hires. This role involves managing complex, enterprise-wide projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that customer needs align with technical and security requirements. The position emphasizes innovation, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement to enhance the overall customer experience in IT services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex, enterprise-wide projects from initiation to closure, ensuring successful delivery within agreed-upon success measures, budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive requirement gathering, scoping, project approval, planning, and verification of strategic goals.
  • Develop gap analyses, functional specifications, project schedules, and milestones.
  • Assemble diverse project teams, assign responsibilities, and foster an inclusive and collaborative environment.
  • Assess costs, benefits, and risks, and proactively identify and mitigate high-priority issues through effective action and appropriate escalation.
  • Balance business needs with technical and security requirements, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Communicate goals, responsibilities, issues, and status effectively to customers, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  • Lead and streamline the transition of NHO services into production, establishing feedback mechanisms for continuous improvement.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with stakeholders and service owners, fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusivity.
  • Understand risks caused by technical complexity and drive simplification and efficiency in existing engineering and architectures to unblock innovation and speed of delivery.
  • Publish accurate and concise reports on time, maintaining transparency and accountability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of technical product, service or program management experience; 6+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience. 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience.
  • Proven experience managing large, cross-functional technology projects from requirements definition through solution delivery.
  • MS SQL or PostgreSQL scripting knowledge coupled with hands-on data analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively, apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and thrive in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and technical proficiencies.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and build collaborative relationships with internal and external partners, contractors, and vendors.
  • Strong record in leading teams distributed across multiple regions and time zones.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience delivering infrastructure programs.
  • Experience with networking, edge computing, cloud and end user computing.
  • Previous experience working as system administration desired (Windows and/or MacOS in Enterprise environments).
  • Previous experience as a business analyst, identifying and prioritizing leading customer issues to communicate with senior leadership on improvement opportunities.
