About the position

The Sr. Product Marketing Manager role within Amazon Freight Partner (AFP) is a pivotal position focused on driving innovation in the transportation industry while empowering small business entrepreneurs. This role is integral to Amazon's sustainability goals and requires a strong customer focus, the ability to navigate complex situations, and a passion for developing effective marketing strategies and compelling messaging. The AFP program enables entrepreneurs to start and grow their trucking businesses alongside Amazon, providing them with exclusive training, the ability to hire from local communities, and long-term business growth potential. As a key member of the marketing team, you will be responsible for building go-to-market (GTM) plans, marketing strategies, and product messaging for key launches aimed at AFP owners and their drivers. This involves a deep understanding of the audience and product offerings, developing segmentation, and creating GTM plans to drive adoption and engage the customer segment. You will craft product positioning, highlight key benefits, and develop customer-facing messaging. Collaboration is essential in this role, as you will work across various teams including channel marketing, customer engagement, product and program owners, and other business units to design new marketing strategies and create compelling communications informed by customer data and insights. This position requires the ability to influence others and build mechanisms and working models across teams. You will utilize customer insights and data to influence the product and program roadmap, necessitating both strategic thinking to build marketing plans and tactical execution to implement them effectively. Your responsibilities will include defining marketing plans and tactics to achieve business objectives, creating product narratives, strategizing multi-channel messaging, and advocating for the customer by distilling market feedback into actionable intelligence that informs internal stakeholders and influences business decisions. Additionally, you will monitor performance metrics and create programs to drive results across the customer lifecycle, ensuring effective communication and storytelling efforts that address business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Define the marketing plan and tactics to achieve business objectives for product, program, and service launches, new features, and operational updates.
  • Create the product narrative and write messaging to accelerate adoption and momentum; successfully bring innovative and category-defining products to market.
  • Strategize and execute proactive multi-channel messaging and communications that will bring clarity and transparency to large-scale operational changes.
  • Create, develop, and implement content for in-person events.
  • Work cross-functionally with teams in marketing, product, program management, PR, and other business teams.
  • Provide messaging feedback on campaigns, creative assets, and other customer-facing initiatives.
  • Advocate for the customer, distill market feedback across regions and categories into market intelligence that informs various internal stakeholders and influences product roadmap and business decisions.
  • Inspect performance metrics and create programs and mechanisms to drive results across the full customer lifecycle including monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of communications.
  • Drive storytelling efforts and communication campaigns to both solve business needs, including written communications, executive messaging, infographics, newsletters, and video.
  • Identify opportunities to build scalable mechanisms such as messaging guidelines and communications playbooks.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in product marketing, communications, or other strategy marketing roles.
  • Experience creating product positioning and benefit messaging.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to influence peers and leaders.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced and ambiguous culture.
  • Experience navigating matrixed organizations.
  • Strong drive for results and ability to take calculated risks.
