About the position

The Sr. Program Manager for Strategic Yard Design at Amazon's Transportation Operations Management (TOM) division plays a crucial role in transforming the design and operation of trailer yards. This position involves overseeing complex, cross-functional projects that influence network improvements in safety, operations, and sustainability. The role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance with Amazon Yard Design Standards and to drive operational excellence within the transportation network.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead for consolidating and creating change requests to influence network improvements in safety and operations.
  • Maintain a repository for all pre-construction work by site within internal platforms (Asana, Smartsheet, and Quicksight dashboards).
  • Obtain and document all specifics regarding projects from key real estate and pre-construction stakeholders.
  • Oversee gaps between teams, processes, and systems to reduce exposure to classic failure modes.
  • Support test fit reviews, template development, and review site drawings with customers and engineering teams to ensure compliance with internal standards.
  • Ownership of Amazon Yard Design Standards development and adherence.
  • Make timely, data-driven decisions to prioritize and solve problems.
  • Build effective relationships up, down, and across organizations.
  • Communicate complex concepts clearly to influence different audiences and levels within and across organizations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience.
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements.
  • Experience owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.
  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization.
  • Experience with at least two disciplines within the construction industry, such as General Contracting, Owner's Representation, Commercial Development, or Engineering & Design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or MBA in supply chain, business, engineering, finance, or related technical or quantitative field.
  • Demonstrated success in communicating project requirements to various audiences.
  • Experience in program management of concurrent projects.
