About the position

The Sr Program Manager at the University of New Mexico Gallup Branch is responsible for overseeing the Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institute grant, focusing on enhancing support for Native American students. This role involves advanced leadership, program administration, and collaboration with the UNM-Gallup Chancellor to ensure the effective implementation and management of grant-funded initiatives. The position requires strategic planning, data management, community outreach, and budget oversight to meet the unique educational needs of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, developing, implementing, and coordinating university projects and programs.
  • Designing and implementing systems to assess, collect, maintain, and analyze data; generating reports and evaluations related to projects.
  • Establishing and implementing short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitoring operational effectiveness.
  • Directing, managing, and overseeing the daily administrative components of programs/projects.
  • Designing, establishing, and maintaining staffing and organizational structure; recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating staff.
  • Developing and implementing systems to maintain records for the operating unit.
  • Performing community liaison and outreach activities for programs/projects.
  • Engaging in contract negotiations and/or performing research; producing and marketing projects or products.
  • Developing and managing annual budgets for the program; performing cost and productivity analyses.
  • Planning and developing strategies for generating resources and revenues for the project; preparing contract and grant proposals.
  • Recommending and establishing program policies and procedures; serving on planning and policy-making committees.
  • Representing the university to various institutional divisions and external agencies, funding organizations, and the public.
  • Providing expertise in a specialized field and participating in local or statewide task forces.
  • Serving as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience related to the duties specified, including 2 years of management experience.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, Counseling, or Education.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with traditionally underrepresented and diverse populations.
  • At least 2 years of grant experience as a Program Director/Principal Investigator.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a post-secondary education student services and support setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.
