About the position

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) is seeking a motivated and creative leader to join our St. Petersburg, FL team as a Sr. Program Quality Engineer (Sr. QA Engineer). This position is crucial in overseeing program quality requirements and ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. As a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, we take pride in supporting the mission of the warfighter by delivering the best, to the best. Our products are utilized by every U.S. military branch and our allies around the world. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and mitigating program risks, ensuring the timely and accurate submission of Customer Deliverable Documentation Requirements, and conducting thorough analyses of program defects. You will develop and implement methods and procedures for process control, improvement, testing, and inspection to ensure that our products are free of flaws and function as designed. This includes designing and installing sophisticated testing equipment and performing product testing and analysis to maintain quality levels and minimize defects and failure rates. You will collaborate with supplier representatives to address quality problems, ensuring that effective corrective actions are implemented and contributing to supplier quality improvement programs. Your responsibilities will also include conducting internal quality kick-off meetings for new programs, ensuring program milestones are completed per schedule, and participating in Integrated Product Team meetings with internal and external customers. Your expertise will be vital in establishing quality standards for products and processes, auditing production processes, and ensuring compliance with formal external quality standards such as ISO 9001.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee program quality requirements and identify program risks.
  • Ensure on-time and accurate submission of Customer Deliverable Documentation Requirements.
  • Analyze program defects and conduct root cause analysis to eliminate defects and improve product quality.
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for process control, improvement, testing, and inspection.
  • Design and install sophisticated testing equipment and perform product testing and analysis.
  • Collaborate with supplier representatives on quality problems and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Conduct internal quality kick-off meetings for new programs and ensure program milestones are completed per schedule.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Team meetings with internal and external customers.
  • Perform process and quality system audits to ensure compliance with specifications and documented procedures.
  • Lead corrective action teams to determine root cause and corrective actions for product or process nonconformances.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in general Engineering or specialized Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • 5-7 years experience in a relevant function.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other Engineering-related degree.
  • Relevant Program Quality Engineering experience within Manufacturing, Military, Aerospace/Aviation, Automotive industry.
  • ISO9001:2015 Lead auditor or AS9100D Lead Auditor certification.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Certified Quality Engineer certification.
  • Strong Mechanical Background.
