About the position

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of HVAC systems for mission-critical environments, particularly data centers. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. The role emphasizes innovation and sustainability, contributing to the company's mission of creating flexible and efficient environments.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with clients to understand project requirements.
  • Plan, conceptualize, and create HVAC mechanical designs for new and retrofit buildings/projects in mission-critical environments.
  • Design duct and piping systems for HVAC applications.
  • Develop central plant cooling designs.
  • Perform HVAC engineering calculations to support design work.
  • Create technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with vendors and contractors.
  • Ensure project timelines are met and projects stay within budget.
  • Travel to project sites as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • EIT/PE certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working for a design engineering firm, including experience in mission-critical (data center) design.
  • Strong understanding of engineering concepts, particularly for HVAC systems.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Familiarity with mechanical engineering software for heat loss/gain calculations, pipe flow analysis, and CFD modeling.
  • Effective communication skills to guide junior staff in project development.
  • Self-motivated with knowledge of project design steps and requirements.
