About the position

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of HVAC systems for mission-critical environments, particularly data centers. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Responsibilities

• Communicate directly with clients to understand project requirements.
• Plan, conceptualize, and create HVAC mechanical designs for new and retrofit buildings/projects in mission-critical environments.
• Design duct and piping systems for HVAC applications.
• Develop central plant cooling designs.
• Perform HVAC engineering calculations to support design work.
• Create technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with vendors and contractors.
• Ensure project timelines are met and projects stay within budget.
• Travel to project sites as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• EIT/PE certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience working for a design engineering firm, including experience in mission-critical (data center) design.
• Strong understanding of engineering concepts, particularly for HVAC systems.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office programs.
• Familiarity with mechanical engineering software for heat loss/gain calculations, pipe flow analysis, and CFD modeling.
• Effective communication skills to guide junior staff in project development.
• Self-motivated with knowledge of project design steps and requirements.
