About the position

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at Ramboll is responsible for leading the design and implementation of HVAC systems for mission-critical environments, particularly data centers. This role involves direct client communication, project planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery within budget and timelines. Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with clients to understand project requirements.
  • Plan, conceptualize, and create HVAC mechanical designs for new and retrofit buildings/projects in mission-critical environments.
  • Perform HVAC engineering calculations to support design work.
  • Create technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with vendors and contractors.
  • Ensure project timelines are met and projects stay within budget.
  • Travel to project sites as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working for a design engineering firm, including experience in mission-critical (data center) design.
  • Strong understanding of engineering concepts, including theoretical and practical applications for HVAC systems.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Familiarity with mechanical engineering software such as heat loss/gain calculations, Pipe-Flo, CFD modeling, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly to junior staff for project development.
  • Self-motivated with knowledge of project design steps and requirements.
