The successful candidate shall be able to work independently with minimal supervision for tasks as follows: able to communicate directly with clients, plan, conceptualize, and create HVAC mechanical designs for new and retrofit buildings/projects in the mission critical environment, duct design/piping design experience, central plant cooling design, perform typical HVAC engineering calculations to support design work, create technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software, collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors. Ensuring project timelines are met and projects stay within budget is crucial, and the candidate must be able to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with clients to understand project requirements.
  • Plan, conceptualize, and create HVAC mechanical designs for new and retrofit buildings/projects in the mission critical environment.
  • Design duct and piping systems for HVAC applications.
  • Develop central plant cooling designs.
  • Perform HVAC engineering calculations to support design work.
  • Create technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with vendors and contractors.
  • Ensure project timelines are met and projects stay within budget.
  • Travel to project sites as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • EIT/PE certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working for a design engineering firm, including some mission critical (data center) design experience.
  • Firm grasp of engineering concepts, including theoretical and practical applications for HVAC systems.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with mechanical engineering software such as heat loss/gain calculations, Pipe-Flo, CFD modeling, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly to junior staff for project development.
  • Self-motivated with knowledge of project design steps and requirements.

  • Knowledge of building codes and standards related to mechanical design.
