About the position

The Senior Project Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing power generation and delivery systems, supporting energy storage development projects, and working on transmission and distribution projects for major utility clients. This role involves engineering studies, data analysis, and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure efficient project execution and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support specific projects within area of capability and perform engineering studies, analysis and investigations under supervision.
  • Independently collect, collate and analyze data using pre-determined tools to support decision-making processes.
  • Support projects involving power generation and delivery, substation, underground and overhead transmission, distribution, storage, and renewable systems.
  • Develop and execute procedures, instructions, and requests to ensure efficient work execution.
  • Test and challenge existing procedures to highlight areas for improvement.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support team collaboration.
  • Undertake specific tasks of varying complexity to support colleagues in designing technical solutions.
  • Build upon technical/professional skills to contribute to the business.
  • Develop and maintain systems, designs, specifications, standards, models, and procedures to support design solutions.
  • Keep up to date with market/regulatory developments to optimize best practices.
  • Challenge existing ways of working to drive greater efficiencies.
  • Promote and implement procedural best practices to ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • 10 years of experience in developing and/or designing power generation, delivery, transmission, distribution, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, protective relays, standby power generation, and/or PLC controls.
  • EIT, PE preferred.
  • Consulting, developer, or utility background preferred.
  • High level of technical performance with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work productively and cooperatively with team members and clients.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Easy Power (or other electrical system analysis software) desired.

  • Experience with renewable energy systems.
