About the position

The Senior Project Engineer role at Collins Aerospace involves leading multidisciplinary teams to develop complex test solutions for the Avionics Test Engineering organization. This position is crucial for ensuring the successful execution of test solution projects from inception to deployment, while also providing long-term support. The role requires collaboration with various engineering disciplines and managing project scope, schedules, and quality expectations in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project technical execution and maintain performance metrics in an Agile project management environment.
  • Utilize Agile tools to manage projects and generate metrics for presentations and future performance projections.
  • Manage project scope, including requirements and change requests, ensuring commitments are met.
  • Generate and maintain project schedules with clear dependencies, deliveries, and critical paths.
  • Utilize Earned Value (EV) methods for managing project budgets and schedules.
  • Ensure projects meet quality expectations and identify risks and opportunities for resolution.
  • Prepare presentations reporting project status to leadership teams.
  • Develop engineering estimates and proposals for potential projects, gaining organizational buy-in.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in systems, mechanical, electrical, or software engineering disciplines.
  • Typically requires a degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or 9 years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status).

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Jira for developing and maintaining schedules.
  • Previous experience as a Project Manager with complex project scopes.
  • Acumen for Earned Value management.
  • Experience with Risk and Opportunity management.
