The Sr. Project Engineer - Electrical at JLG, an Oshkosh Corporation company, is responsible for overseeing engineering projects within a design and development program. This role involves supervising teams of engineers and designers, directing high-level engineering analysis, and ensuring that new and modified components and subsystems are designed in accordance with engineering standards and project scope. The primary goal is to ensure that designs meet customer requirements, corporate objectives, and safety standards while being manufacturable. In this position, the engineer will participate in the budgeting process, recommending capital improvements and preparing justification data as required. They will research and propose the use of new technologies to enhance product development. Effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources regarding technical issues is crucial. The engineer will also communicate project objectives to team members and enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards, ensuring that all technical issues are handled within the framework of company policies and procedures. The role requires evaluating designs for performance, safety, and reliability, directing the preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material. The engineer will create and maintain project documentation for planning, requirements analysis, risk management, and quality assurance. They will perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet project requirements. Additionally, the engineer will provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, and production support, analyze and resolve issues reported to engineering, and guide team members to ensure appropriate engineering analysis is performed and documented. Leadership and management of the technical staff are essential to ensure program success, including resource planning, scheduling, and administration. Finally, the engineer will prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations as needed.
