About the position

The Sr. Project Engineer - Electrical at Oshkosh Corporation is responsible for overseeing engineering projects within a design and development program. This role involves supervising teams of engineers and designers, directing high-level engineering analysis, and designing new and modified components and subsystems. The engineer will ensure that all designs meet customer requirements, adhere to corporate objectives, and comply with safety and manufacturability standards. The position requires effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources to address technical issues and project objectives. In addition to project management, the engineer will participate in the budgeting process, recommend capital improvements, and prepare justification data. They will research and propose new technologies for product development, enforce engineering criteria and drawing standards, and evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability. The engineer will also be responsible for creating and maintaining project documentation, performing engineering analysis for parts selection, and providing technical assistance for prototypes and production support. Leadership is a key aspect of this role, as the engineer will guide team members in performing and documenting appropriate engineering analyses, establish work priorities, and manage resources to ensure program success. The engineer will prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations, all while conducting their duties in a manner consistent with the Oshkosh Way and the company's mission statement.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the budgeting process, recommending capital improvements and preparing justification data.
  • Research, study, and propose the use of new technologies for product development.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources regarding technical issues.
  • Communicate project objectives to team members.
  • Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Direct the preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Create and maintain project documentation for planning, requirements analysis, risk management, and quality assurance.
  • Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, and production support.
  • Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.
  • Provide guidance to team members to ensure appropriate engineering analysis is performed and documented.
  • Provide leadership to a technical staff to ensure program success, meeting customer and corporate requirements.
  • Establish priorities for work delegated to others.
  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Engineering
  • 8-plus years related experience
