About the position

The Sr. Project Engineer at Nestlé is a pivotal role responsible for providing technical leadership in the execution of capital projects focused on packaging and automation equipment within the new manufacturing facility in Glendale, Arizona. The engineer will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from preliminary development through to construction and commissioning, ensuring that all project deliverables are met in accordance with established timelines and budgets. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including clients and internal teams, to ensure that project goals align with Nestlé's commitment to quality and environmental responsibility. In the preliminary project development phase, the Sr. Project Engineer will assist in creating essential project documentation such as project charters and management plans. They will monitor design progress, ensuring that all deliverables are met and that the project adheres to its key components. The engineer will also be responsible for selecting contractors and managing the bidding process, ensuring that all contractors are vetted and selected based on engineering best practices. During project execution, the engineer will direct the installation and commissioning of projects, manage project budgets, and provide regular updates on project status to stakeholders. They will also ensure compliance with quality and GMP requirements, adhering to FDA and OSHA regulations. The role emphasizes a strong commitment to safety, requiring the engineer to assess the impact of any changes on product safety, quality, and environmental factors. The Sr. Project Engineer will also play a crucial role in supporting factory operations and participating in Nestlé's Continuous Excellence and Total Performance Management initiatives. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for capital projects focused on packaging and automation equipment.
  • Assist in the development of pre-project approval documents including project charters and management plans.
  • Monitor design progress and ensure adherence to project deliverables.
  • Coordinate bid package development and release for construction bidding.
  • Select contractors and contracting methods based on engineering methodologies.
  • Direct and execute installation, construction, and commissioning of assigned projects.
  • Manage project scope and secure approvals for changes based on engineering methodologies.
  • Control project budgets and provide cost forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Maintain project milestone schedules and manage data collection for projects.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and GMP requirements in accordance with FDA and OSHA regulations.
  • Provide construction management and factory startup assistance as needed.
  • Monitor work output from project team resources and provide technical support to factory operations.
  • Support Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Total Performance Management (TPM) initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
  • 4+ years' experience managing capital projects in a manufacturing or related environment preferred.
  • Experience using SAP and/or Microsoft Project preferred.
  • TPM experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and use problem-solving techniques to resolve issues.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to schedule resources effectively.
