About the position

The Sr. Project Engineer at Blattner Company is responsible for managing the transition from project award to final design, ensuring reliable, quality, and safe designs through collaboration with third-party engineering firms and internal teams. This role involves leading the design process, serving as the company representative during the design phase, and aligning with construction management to provide necessary design plans and parameters. The position focuses on energy storage systems, underground collection systems, substations, SCADA/communication systems, transmission lines, and solar/PV arrays, while also providing training and mentorship to project and technical personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the transition from project award to final design.
  • Oversee third-party engineering firms and ensure adherence to processes and standards.
  • Lead the design process through IFC design and represent the company with the Owner during the design phase.
  • Collaborate with the construction management team to provide design plans and parameters for construction.
  • Engage in design work primarily related to energy storage systems, underground collection systems, substations, SCADA/communication systems, transmission lines, and solar/PV arrays.
  • Provide training and mentorship for project and technical personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or related degree from an ABET accredited college.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT or FE) certificate with potential to become a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in 6 months preferred.
  • Four or more years of progressive engineering, engineering supervisory, and/or construction related experience in a related industry (i.e., heavy civil, industrial, utilities, power generation) required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project Engineering experience on renewable energy projects (Wind, Solar, or BESS).
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred, with an emphasis on construction and electrical engineering.
