About the position

The Senior Project Engineer at Milwaukee Tool will play a crucial role in the development and qualification of power tool products. This hands-on position requires a deep understanding of product testing, reliability, and requirements management, with a focus on delivering high-performance tools that meet user needs. The engineer will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to innovate and improve product testing methods while mentoring less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Act as subject matter expert in product testing, reliability, requirements management, and warranty analysis for new product designs.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and marketing to define product specifications regarding life, durability, quality, and user needs.
  • Participate in and conduct design reviews to showcase project status, risks, and system readiness for testing and verification activities.
  • Develop and execute reliability, design, and validation assessments to support successful product introductions based on data-driven evidence.
  • Ensure completion of product qualification test plans, including functional, reliability, and durability testing.
  • Develop test procedures and prove out test methods based on new or established product designs to ensure power tools meet customer requirements.
  • Analyze and present product usage and risk assessments utilizing statistical techniques such as Weibull analysis and reliability distributions.
  • Ensure timely failure reporting and perform root cause analysis for issues observed in life testing and/or field use.
  • Occasionally join end user research events to identify "critical to quality" (CtQ) requirements on mechanical and electrical design features.
  • Interact with global engineers, suppliers, and manufacturing that participate in product commercialization.
  • Track and support multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, systems, robotics or other related engineering field.
  • 5 or more years of experience in product development, systems, reliability, test or similar function.
  • Experience in systems engineering fundamentals, requirements management, and proven ability to lead a primary function within a project team.
  • Background in test development, verification, data collection, and analytics; experience with HALT and other reliability test methods is a plus.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and sound statistical application in areas such as Design of Experiments, sampling techniques, regression, reliability, FMEA, hypothesis testing, etc.
  • Experience with life data analysis, reliability distributions, and related software (e.g., Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull++).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels with creative problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge/Experience with the phases of residential and commercial construction as well as equipment usage.
