About the position
The Sr. Project Engineer will lead substation protection and control (P&C) projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle, from estimating and proposals to design, equipment procurement, and construction support. This role requires a strong background in electrical engineering, particularly in substation design, and involves quality assurance and mentoring of junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead substation P&C projects, collaborating with internal multidisciplinary teams.
- Review and produce P&C design drawings, including relaying/functional one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, panel views, BOM, wiring diagrams, and station communication & alarm diagrams.
- Review and perform studies and calculations for substation P&C schemes, including battery bank sizing calculations and wire/cable ampacity.
- Perform detailed quality reviews (QA/QC) in accordance with established quality procedures and provide PE stamping for projects as required.
- Assist in the development of additional Professional Engineers within the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer licensure and ability to obtain reciprocity in multiple states.
- 6-10+ years of substation P&C engineering experience related to electrical power substation design for Coops, Municipalities, and/or IOUs.
- Knowledge of IEEE standards as related to P&C design.
- Experience with Bluebeam is preferred.
- Experience up to 345kV is a plus.
- Experience with ASPEN/CAPE is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% when needed within the continental U.S.
