About the position

The Sr. Project Engineer will support Project Managers in estimating, coordinating proposals, and managing various construction projects, particularly in the waterworks and wastewater industries. This role involves participation in pre-construction activities, project planning, execution, and assisting in the startup, testing, and commissioning phases of projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, motivated, and committed to delivering quality work on time.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preliminary estimating, compile bids, and generate proposals.
  • Develop and maintain construction schedules using Primavera P6, including regular updates and revisions.
  • Conduct pre-construction reviews by evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Manage the procurement process for materials, equipment, and subcontracts, including processing purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Own the submittal process: create and manage project submittals and logs to track critical paths for approval and release of materials.
  • Prepare and assist with monthly project progress billing, reporting, and accounting.
  • Coordinate and schedule deliveries with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring accuracy in invoices and completeness.
  • Provide ongoing support to the superintendent for labor dispatch, scheduling, and work coordination of subcontractors.
  • Utilize CM software for daily production reporting, budgeting, and performance tracking.
  • Manage project closeout, including preparing operating and maintenance manuals, as-built records, warranties, and other required documentation.
  • Assist the Project Manager with daily operations and maintain all required records for the client.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; experience in the waterworks industry is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Project Engineer in the construction industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), SAGE, and Primavera P6.
  • Experience in project submittals, procurement, scheduling, and vendor coordination.
  • Above-average computer skills, including familiarity with Windows 10.
