About the position

The Senior Project Manager (IT PMO) is responsible for overseeing the direction, implementation, execution, control, and management of enterprise-wide projects within the credit union's strategy and goals. This role focuses on driving innovative solutions, partnering with various business and technical teams to deliver iterative business value and achieve strategic objectives. The position requires strong leadership, communication, and project management skills to guide teams and ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead divisional or enterprise initiatives with moderate to high complexity.
  • Guide project teams and business/technical partners to deliver value and achieve business strategies.
  • Shape programs/projects to deliver business value with shorter iterations.
  • Monitor and incorporate industry, functional, or technology trends into programs.
  • Develop communication strategies and secure commitment for project decisions.
  • Define strategies for influencing decision-makers and overcoming resistance to change.
  • Guide communities of practice and project forums to address ongoing professional needs.
  • Set project expectations and strategy, ensuring the development of change plans and financials.
  • Partner with teams to identify opportunities for reusable artifacts.
  • Lead teams to focus on business strategy and prioritize based on value delivery.
  • Manage ambiguity, resolve conflicts, and remove barriers within project teams.
  • Develop RFPs, analyze vendor responses, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Challenge and drive initiatives forward.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve emerging business needs.
  • Partner with leaders to align program vision and assess support requirements.
  • Develop business solutions that align with overall strategy.
  • Maintain understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Motivate and inspire teams to commit to shared purposes.
  • Promote team coordination and create a collaborative environment.
  • Provide guidance, feedback, coaching, and mentoring to team members.
  • Coordinate and influence business prioritization to align with strategic goals.
  • Engage stakeholders to define measurable business value and benefits.
  • Analyze project trends and make recommendations for adjustments and contingency plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science preferred.
  • Minimum eight years of combined experience in project analysis, coordination, and management, with at least five years of direct project management experience.
  • Experience in financial institutions is preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial products and services.
  • Familiarity with credit union products and operational guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge of business analytical practices and methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Ability to evaluate business objectives and develop action plans.
  • Familiarity with contractual language and negotiation.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong research, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Customer-focused attitude and proactive work approach.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in Business Administration or related field is a plus.
