About the position

The IT Transformation Program Manager at T-Mobile will play a pivotal role in managing the planning and execution of significant company initiatives aimed at delivering long-term value. This includes overseeing integration, separation, and divestiture programs for IT systems. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and possess expertise in wireless telecommunications, with a proven track record of managing complex programs at the enterprise level. The IT Transformation PM will work closely with functional and cross-functional teams across IT to monitor, support, and ensure the successful delivery of integration and/or separation initiatives that align with T-Mobile's strategic goals. This role requires effective collaboration with business and technology development teams to solve problems and implement innovative solutions. In this position, the Program Manager will assemble key players on the project team and nurture internal working relationships across the enterprise, fostering the development of cross-functional teamwork. Responsibilities include delegating project tasks, directing and motivating project work, and ensuring the efficient use of resources to meet project requirements. The PM will also facilitate the creation of project charters, examine technical documentation for completeness, and ensure that all necessary approvals are obtained according to company standards. The Program Manager will develop and update project schedules, monitor project progress against baselines, and document any changes in project parameters. Risk management is a critical aspect of this role, requiring the identification of potential risks and the use of proven project management techniques to assess and mitigate them. The PM will facilitate project risk reviews and make recommendations for handling risks associated with work, contracts, and major changes. Additionally, the Program Manager will attend and host management and project team meetings to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle. Upon project completion, the PM will ensure that all documentation is closed and archived appropriately, facilitating the transfer of project care, custody, and control.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble key players on the project team and nurture internal working relationships across the enterprise.
  • Delegate project responsibilities and task interfaces, directing and motivating project work and resources.
  • Ensure timely activity, integration, and productivity of technical support while administering efficient resource use.
  • Question ambiguous responsibilities and manage conflicts to early resolution, escalating unresolved issues as necessary.
  • Facilitate the creation of the project charter and examine project-related technical documentation for completeness.
  • Ensure required document review and approvals according to company standards and processes.
  • Facilitate the creation of work breakdown structures and develop/update project schedules/plans.
  • Analyze validity of schedules submitted by outside parties and distribute schedules in various formats.
  • Monitor actual project progress, compare to baseline, and report progress against schedule.
  • Document, obtain approval, and track all changes in project parameters, producing detailed reports as needed.
  • Identify risks in projects and use proven PM techniques to assess and mitigate them.
  • Facilitate project risk reviews and document impacts on schedule of proposed changes.
  • Attend and/or host management and project team meetings to keep the project team informed.
  • Close all project documentation upon completion or premature cessation and archive appropriate records.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in IT transformation or similar roles.
  • Expertise in wireless telecommunications and managing complex enterprise-level programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct project teams.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in project management tools and methodologies.
