About the position

As a Sr Project Manager specializing in greenfield operations, manufacturing building moves, flow optimization, Lean principles, and process improvement, this role will be a key player in designing, implementing, and improving processes within our new and existing facilities. This position will collaborate closely with stakeholders to define project scope, develop timelines, allocate resources, and manage budgets. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing building moves, launching new facilities, and leading multi-site continuous improvement projects. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project. The Sr Project Manager will be responsible for project planning and execution, which includes defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders. They will develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocations, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and clarity of project goals. Monitoring project progress, identifying risks and issues, and implementing mitigation strategies will be essential to ensure projects are completed on budget and on time. Regular project meetings will be conducted to provide status updates to stakeholders, and visual management tools and performance metrics will be implemented to monitor and track progress. In addition to project planning, the role involves leading the planning and execution of building moves, which includes equipment relocation, IT infrastructure setup, and logistical coordination. The Sr Project Manager will develop move plans, schedules, and contingency plans to minimize disruption to operations, coordinating with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure a smooth transition to new facilities. Post-move evaluations will be conducted to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement. The position also focuses on continuous improvement and flow optimization, where the Sr Project Manager will analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities for optimization, waste reduction, and cost savings. Utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, they will streamline processes and improve overall efficiency, collaborating with cross-functional teams to standardize best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The role will also involve managing all aspects of new building launches, from site selection to occupancy, ensuring timely completion of building construction and infrastructure setup, and developing launch plans encompassing facility commissioning, staff training, and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocations.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and clarity of project goals.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Conduct regular project meetings and provide status updates to stakeholders.
  • Lead the planning and execution of building moves, including equipment relocation, IT infrastructure setup, and logistical coordination.
  • Develop move plans, schedules, and contingency plans to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth transition to new facilities.

  • Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities for optimization, waste reduction, and cost savings.
  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardize best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate and lead teams on continuous improvement projects through lean manufacturing, process control, automation, and quality assurance.
  • Develop process improvements for fabrication, assembly, and packaging.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for new and existing manufacturing systems.
  • Maintain engineering changes, bills of materials, product routings, and manufacturing/process information.
  • Develop and maintain SOP and quality documentation as it relates to engineering and manufacturing.
  • Travel to other manufacturing facilities on an as-needed basis, sometimes for extended periods of time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (B.S.) plus ten years of project management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the metal stamping and fabrication field.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager, with a focus on building moves, new building launches and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project or similar software.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient problem-solving and multitasking skills.
  • Team player and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Desire to learn and grow.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters and PMP Certification preferred.
