The Senior Public Relations Manager for the Office of the Chief Information Officer (oCIO) at Workday is a pivotal role that focuses on leading and managing public relations programs that highlight the Workday platform and its innovative solutions. In this role, the Senior Manager will oversee PR activities across multiple products within the oCIO, working closely with product marketing, content marketing, analyst relations, and other communications functions. The candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with media outlets to drive positive coverage of Workday's platform and AI innovations. This includes researching Workday's product roadmap, identifying customer needs, and developing thought leadership content that emphasizes security, privacy, and trust in the company's innovations. The Senior Manager will also represent the communications team in cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader company goals and managing the day-to-day relationship with external PR agencies. This position is integral to advancing Workday's narrative in the market and requires a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with executives, media, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead PR activities across multiple products within the oCIO and Workday AI innovations.
  • Build programs and own relationships with the media to drive positive coverage highlighting the Workday platform and our AI innovation.
  • Partner with product executives and product marketing to develop narratives and messaging that can be applied across internal and external channels.
  • Research into Workday's product roadmap and work with key stakeholders to source product news that we want to drive awareness around.
  • Identify stories and examples of how Workday is responding to customers' needs with new solutions that help them adapt to the changing world of work.
  • Help develop Workday's perspective on innovation from a platform, products, and AI technologies lens.
  • Drive thought leadership content that helps raise the visibility of Workday executives and the company's AI innovation, focusing on security, privacy, and trust.
  • Represent the communications/PR team in cross-functional teams to ensure alignment around business objectives and to advance broader company initiatives.
  • Help manage day-to-day relationship with external public relations agency.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of public relations experience, preferably in enterprise software and AI technology.
  • Strong experience working with business, trade, IT, and industry media outlets and reporters.
  • Superb written and verbal communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to quickly understand technology and translate into public relations strategies, messaging, and compelling narratives.
  • Create content that reaches audiences across paid, earned, and owned channels.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven track record in navigating and building strong relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinking, problem solving, attention to detail, technical, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage positive relationships with the media.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in both in-house and agency public relations experience.
