As a Senior Purchasing Manager at our global automotive supply company, you will play a pivotal role in managing the purchasing team responsible for all commodities, from new product introduction to annual purchase and supplier maintenance. Your expertise will be crucial in establishing commodity strategies and driving both domestic and global sourcing initiatives based on cost efficiency and supplier performance. You will be recognized as the resident expert on purchasing specific commodities, particularly in the areas of brushless motors, PCBA's, controllers, and electronics. In this role, you will lead the sourcing process for supplier contracting, which includes managing the entire lifecycle from RFQ to supplier assessment, net present value analysis, negotiation, and final sourcing. You will support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process by ensuring that the best suppliers are sourced at the appropriate times, encouraging supplier involvement during the product design phase, and ensuring that pre-production parts and materials are available as required. Additionally, you will be responsible for issuing tooling and component purchase orders in a timely manner. Your responsibilities will also include improving purchasing processes, controls, and procedures that align with our operational goals. You will have the opportunity to develop future leaders by identifying mentoring opportunities, providing challenging assignments, and delegating stretch projects to accelerate their development. Collaboration with internal teams such as Engineering, Production, Program Management, and Quality will be essential to effectively manage supplier selection. You will need to possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, legal documents, and engineering drawings. Furthermore, you will prepare annual headcount, expense, and purchasing price variance forecasts for business planning purposes, and review and update monthly reports to track and forecast purchasing performance against the budget. Identifying and achieving cost reduction goals will be a key focus, leveraging our corporate purchasing power in collaboration with our parent company. You will also be responsible for managing the annual and five-year budget planning requirements that align with our business plans. In addition, you will initiate quoting processes that provide real cost estimates for Sales and Marketing, ensuring a cost-competitive Bill of Materials (BOM) that serves as the baseline for initial customer quotes. You may conduct or support supplier manufacturing feasibility reviews and technical reviews, and you will lead multi-discipline projects or teams while interfacing with change project teams. Tracking, reporting, and communicating market conditions, pricing, supply trends, purchasing techniques, and new products will also be part of your responsibilities. Lastly, you will create and maintain purchase orders in our MRP database and support cross-country communication and transfer of business systems and practices for strategic purposes.
