About the position

The Senior Python Developer is responsible for developing, programming, and coding IT solutions using Python to enhance Florida Blue Customer Experience applications. This role includes documentation, conducting unit tests, peer code reviews, and maintaining internally developed applications, as well as evaluating and performance testing purchased products. The developer will also implement IT controls to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of applications and data.

Responsibilities

• Develop, program, and code IT solutions using Python for Florida Blue Customer Experience applications.
• Document the system and conduct unit tests and peer code reviews.
• Maintain internally developed applications and evaluate performance of purchased products.
• Implement IT controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of applications and data.
• Develop REST APIs and process batch files using Python.
• Schedule batch processes and evaluate various libraries to meet business and technical requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in technical design and coding in the IT industry.
• Experience with unit testing, release procedures, coding design, and documentation protocols.
• Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Excellent understanding of RESTful architecture and Python programming.
• Experience developing REST APIs and processing batch files using Python.
• Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with various database systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Health Care or Financial domains.
• Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux shell scripting.
• Working knowledge of PySpark and Hadoop environments.
