About the position

The Senior QA Automation Engineer is responsible for testing software applications with a focus on quality and reliability. This role involves defining, implementing, and maintaining advanced automation solutions and strategies within the team. The engineer will provide technical advice and direction to help the team deliver effective automation solutions, participate in agile ceremonies, and ensure quality issues are identified and resolved prior to release. This position is hybrid-remote, requiring 1-2 days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive ‘Quality / Automation as a Team Mindset' within the team.
  • Exhibit domain knowledge and product expertise for supported applications.
  • Compose series/business requirements in test cases that clearly articulate test objectives, steps, and expected results.
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan, coordinate/perform and document results of test execution.
  • Track and retest defects/bugs prior to release.
  • Participate in and conduct regular test case peer reviews and automation code reviews.
  • Lead and collaborate with their delivery team to build automated testing in the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Analyze and understand the current technology architecture, system interdependencies, and application stacks.
  • Lead by example in exhibiting initiative for self-learning of new technical skills and tools.
  • Drive consistent improvement and knowledge sharing principles across the team.
  • Lead automation strategies/solutions and projects within the team and across disciplines.
  • Evaluate and propose the use of new tools for continuous improvement and driving automation strategies forward.
  • Experience building, testing, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining effective test automation solutions.
  • Setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Setting up and maintaining Automation Frameworks.
  • Mentor others in test automation, programming, and QA best practices.
  • Work independently researching, solving, and programming complex automation solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and/or certifications.
  • 5+ years experience using UI and/or API automation tools such as TestComplete, Selenium/Appium, Playwright, Cypress, Postman, Swagger, GitLab.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience programming/scripting with JavaScript and/or Java.
  • Additional scripting experience in C#, PowerShell, SQL, XML is a plus.
  • Salesforce/nCino automation preferred.
  • 5+ years experience executing all levels of testing (System, Integration, and Regression).
  • 5+ years experience in web, mobile, microservices, and database automation.
  • 3+ years experience with Git as a version control system, in conjunction with solutions such as Bitbucket, GitHub, or GitLab.
  • Experience setting up and maintaining automation frameworks.
  • Experience using CI/CD practices.
  • Experience planning, developing, documenting, and maintaining a regression testing strategy.
  • Working knowledge of Test-Driven and Behavior-Driven development along with STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle).
  • Strong understanding of Agile QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience communicating complex information.
  • Knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Access.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional programming languages or tools related to automation.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based testing environments.
