About the position

The Senior Quality Laboratory Analyst plays a crucial role in leading laboratory analysts and associate analysts in conducting specification testing and related laboratory tasks that support the Blending Operation. This position ensures that raw materials and finished products meet the quality expectations of the company and its customers. The analyst acts as a subject matter expert in laboratory operations, manages product non-conformance investigations, and participates in continuous improvement activities to enhance quality assurance and food safety systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to Laboratory Analysts and Associate Laboratory Analysts, including coaching and development.
  • Manage schedules and day-to-day responsibilities of laboratory staff.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on Laboratory Operations for Blending work centers, including raw material requirements and testing.
  • Manage the completion of product non-conformance investigations and report results to the quality engineer.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions from laboratory investigations and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Release incoming raw materials for production based on business needs and quality metrics.
  • Communicate late releases to the manager and participate in late release investigations.
  • Manage release timeframe of inbound raw materials and finished goods by monitoring outstanding testing of products in QI status.
  • Review laboratory data for accuracy and communicate concerns to the laboratory supervisor.
  • Participate in the improvement of Quality Assurance and Food Safety systems through continuous improvement activities.
  • Write, revise, and update laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to meet evolving customer and business needs.
  • Participate in facility GMP audits.
  • Back up to the Quality Assurance Specialist and Sr. Quality Laboratory Analyst - Blending.
  • Perform other work as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or related field.
  • Desire to manage people.
  • 1+ year supervisory experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of laboratory experience.
  • Proven record of ability to independently prioritize work for timely completion.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge and experience using statistical analysis preferred.
  • Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and numerical skills with the ability to compare information accurately and quickly.
  • High level of honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Availability to work weekend shifts, as needed.
