About the position

The Sr Quality Assurance Analyst will support client operations at the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) by ensuring the quality and performance of various IT projects and applications. This role involves collaborating with development teams, implementing QA strategies, conducting testing, and providing technical expertise to enhance the overall quality assurance processes within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with development teams to evaluate application requirements and synthesize plans, strategies, and scenarios for system testing.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of QA testing strategy and design for large projects, complex, and/or enterprise-wide IT projects.
  • Works with the Quality Assurance Manager and application development teams to establish plans, standards, and procedures that will add value to and satisfy the constraints of the project.
  • Ensures adequate product testing prior to implementation.
  • Provides technical expertise to the team and oversight and guidance to other QA team members.
  • Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts.
  • Provides training and guidance to project teams regarding QA processes and procedures within a project.
  • Educates business users on business requirements and user acceptance testing protocols.
  • Conducts user acceptance testing by working closely with user acceptance testers.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations on various aspects of IT QA to other departments and WSSC Water business users.
  • Facilitates regular Patching events for Windows and Linux and other platforms as assigned.
  • Develops, maintains, and provides status reports on project progress metrics.
  • Evaluates automated testing tools and in-house processes with a constant view toward refinement and improvement.
  • Follows projects/changes post go-live to ensure production performance is consistent with the tested solution.
  • Ensures standards are being followed for testing, benchmarking, and change management.
  • Works with test automation or possesses the ability to learn UFT automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university majoring in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least seven (7) years of professional job-related experience with a bachelor's degree or five (5) years with a master's degree.
  • Public Utility experience preferred.
  • Experience with Laboratory information management systems.
  • Experience with UC4 batch processing tool.
  • Experience with Customer 2 Meter C2M / Workforce management systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of testing strategy and design, and quality assurance methods and procedures.
  • Experience with ALM, UFT, and LoadRunner preferred.
  • Advanced working knowledge of system integration testing, Automation testing, Infrastructure patching, performance testing, white box, black box, and UAT testing.
  • In-depth knowledge of the full life cycle SDLC process and user methodologies.
  • Diverse knowledge of programming languages, including Web Focus, .NET, JAVA/J2EE, UNIX, and SQL programming languages.
  • Knowledge of designing and building test automation processes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and other project management tools.
  • Familiarity with relational databases, such as Oracle, SQL Server.
  • Ability to test complex, distributed enterprise systems as well as web applications.
  • Ability to assess software requirements quality including traceability.
  • Ability to succinctly document inconsistencies and defects along with clear descriptions of how detected and/or steps needed to recreate and ability to make the appropriate recommendations.
  • Ability to meet scope, budget, and tight implementation schedules.
  • Ability to understand business processes and formulate/execute a testing strategy in support of that process.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to lead large scale testing efforts with minimum supervision.
