Under minimal supervision, the Sr Quality Improvement Data Analyst is responsible for the full cycle development of data tools and analytical reports that facilitate improvements in medical process efficiency and communicate the overall quality of medical services delivered to patients. This includes the development of ad hoc analyses, online efficiency and process improvement tools, EMR data tools, quality dashboards, and cyclic quality/performance data reports. The role requires regular collaboration as a data specialist across business units in support of organizational goals and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data, be unafraid of tackling difficult problems, and provide optimized solutions. They should be a continuous learner, capable of managing their projects, time, and customer expectations, and able to translate customer feedback and requirements into technical specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes existing medical data and gathered requirements to develop reporting products that support improved quality, efficiency, and understanding of process change across multiple clinical functional areas.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose reporting errors in complicated report structures, communicating error sources, impacts, and potential solutions.
  • Responsible for inspection of available data quality, suitability for use in analysis, and application of appropriate and defensible methods of analysis.
  • Serves as quality data reporting subject-matter expert and key contact for data use/application.
  • Address requests for customized data sets and ad hoc analysis requested by clinical and business partners.
  • Project management and work cross-functionally with stakeholders in the development of new reporting products.
  • Investigate needs of clinical quality data users and collaborate with Advanced Analytics developers and Epic analysts to conceptualize and set specifications for required data reporting products.
  • Define desired data presentations and validate products under development for Clinic-wide use.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives with a focus on use of data for improved efficiency, productivity, and assessment of program performance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience related to healthcare, medical, scientific, or business analytics.
  • SQL knowledge.
  • High proficiency in data management/analysis applications (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Access, Tableau, R, MSFT Report Builder or similar).

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with medical quality measures: Stars, HEDIS, Patient Experience surveys.
  • Familiarity with Epic/Clarity database or similar medical electronic medical records system.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, establish priorities, and communicate clearly both in writing and verbally.
