About the position
The Sr R D Engineer position at Cordis Corporation involves the design, development, and testing of cardiovascular and vascular medical devices, including stents and stent delivery systems. The role requires solving complex engineering problems to ensure that devices meet user needs and are safe and effective for their intended uses.
Responsibilities
- Applies comprehensive medical device engineering knowledge and a thorough understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks and projects.
- May contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
- Works on complex projects of medium scope.
- Develops technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems, ensuring solutions are innovative and consistent with organization objectives.
- Completes work independently, receiving general guidance on new projects.
- Accountable for design reviews, ensuring design solutions are documented, evaluated against design input, and tested properly.
- Works on the design of devices and components as an individual technical contributor, capable of acting as a project leader as needed.
- Works closely with manufacturing engineers on process development for mass production of medical devices.
- Develops and monitors work schedule to ensure on-time completion of design activities assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field required.
- A minimum of 4+ years related work experience.
- Experience working in the design and development of medical devices.
- Prior experience working in the design and testing of stents, stent delivery systems, and cardiovascular catheters would be an additional asset.
