About the position

The Sr Research Administration Systems Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the management and administration of the SMCRI technology solutions for research administration management. This includes overseeing systems that facilitate proposal routing and submission, ensuring compliance with related requirements, managing post-award accounting, and handling effort reporting. The position is integral to the operational efficiency of research administration at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, which is recognized for its commitment to pediatric care and innovation in medical technology. In this role, the analyst will serve as the system administrator for the Huron Research Suite and Employee Compensation Compliance, ensuring that these systems are effectively utilized and maintained. The analyst will monitor and support integrations between various research administration systems, including the setup and ongoing maintenance of award data between Huron Research Suite and Workday Grants. Collaboration is key, as the analyst will work closely with users from the Research Business Office to address system enhancements, inquiries, and data issues, while also ensuring governance is upheld. The analyst will also collaborate with the Finance department to manage reporting and integration needs related to Workday Grants, which includes both current and future reporting requirements. Supporting system upgrades and modifications is another critical aspect of the role, which involves identifying requirements, configuration, testing, and deployment, as well as managing communication related to these changes. Additionally, the analyst will assist the Director in managing the research administration systems configuration and data governance, while also providing strategic direction for process improvements and innovative solutions. This includes advising on automation opportunities and refining business process maps to enhance efficiency and visibility across processes. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, particularly in relation to Workday and business process issues, and the analyst will be responsible for maximizing the effectiveness of reports using appropriate reporting tools. Overall, the Sr Research Administration Systems Analyst is expected to support the Director in preparing management reports, KPIs, and audit schedules, contributing to the overall success of the research administration function within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management and administration of Workday Grants and Huron Research Suite.
  • Serve as the system administrator for Huron Research Suite and Employee Compensation Compliance.
  • Monitor and support integrations between research administration systems.
  • Collaborate with Research Business Office users on system enhancements and error resolution.
  • Work with Finance on reporting and integration needs related to Workday Grants.
  • Support system upgrades and modifications, including testing and deployment.
  • Assist the Director with management of research administration systems configuration.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on application and reporting requirements for research administration.
  • Provide strategic direction on process improvements and automation solutions.
  • Maximize effectiveness of reports utilizing appropriate reporting tools.
  • Support the Director in preparing management reports and audit schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of professional experience in research administration systems or seven years of professional experience in research administration systems.
  • Experience with Workday Grants and Huron Research Suite grants and agreements modules is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to non-technical individuals.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask are required.
  • Strong organizational skills to meet aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team and interact with all levels of the organization.
