About the position

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Research Analyst for Directed Energy & Quantum Science, a role that is pivotal in supporting the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering. This position is located in College Park, MD, and requires a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Physics or a related field, along with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the relevant domains. The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated team that is committed to providing mission-essential support in challenging environments, particularly in the areas of Directed Energy and Quantum Sciences. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining subject matter expertise in Directed Energy and Quantum Sciences, providing critical support to analysts in the development of time-sensitive products. You will collaborate with a team of other subject matter experts and analysts to develop strategic products, such as technology area protection plans, aimed at safeguarding U.S. investments from foreign technology transfer attempts. Your work will directly contribute to the protection of our nation and the advancement of critical technologies. Responsibilities

  • Support the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, specifically in the Maintaining Technology Advantage Branch.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in Directed Energy and Quantum Sciences.
  • Provide SME support to analysts in the development of critical time-sensitive products.
  • Support the development of strategic products, like technology area protection plans, for Directed Energy and Quantum Technology.
  • Work with a team of other SMEs and analysts to meet short deadlines and deliver quality products.
  • Evaluate protection strategies to defend US investments from foreign attempts at technology transfer.

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics or related subject
  • 10+ years of professional experience
  • Top Secret Clearance with SCI-Eligibility
  • Experience with Directed Energy Technology (Lasers and/or High-Powered RF/Microwaves) or Quantum Sciences
