About the position

The Senior Research Analyst at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) will lead and contribute to research and assessment projects that address strategic questions, enhance offerings and operations, and fulfill reporting responsibilities. This role involves managing projects from conception to completion, including data collection, analysis, and communication of results. The analyst will work closely with various stakeholders within the school and will be responsible for ensuring that projects meet the needs of the school and its leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of strategic analytics and assessment projects from conception to completion.
  • Develop project timelines, delegation plans, and internal documentation to ensure project completion.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with School leadership, faculty, and staff to foster collaboration.
  • Develop, disseminate, and present products including visualizations, written reports, slide decks, and dashboards.
  • Advise colleagues on best practices in study design, instrument development, and data security practices.
  • Stay current on peer-reviewed literature related to institutional research and share best practices with the team.
  • Oversee student workers or other contributors to projects.

Requirements

  • BA/BS required with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience in independently leading, designing, and executing research projects, preferably in education.
  • Experience analyzing quantitative and/or qualitative data.
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language or statistical software package (preferably R).
  • Experience with reporting, generating visualizations, and communications/presentations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across a large organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and use data for planning purposes.
  • Experience with focus groups, interviewing, and text analysis.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Tableau and PowerBI.
