About the position

The Sr Research Assistant in GI Med Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center plays a crucial role in cancer research, particularly focusing on pancreatic cancer. This position involves supervising technical personnel, planning and executing experiments, and collaborating with various teams to ensure the successful completion of research projects. The role requires a strong emphasis on data analysis, scientific writing, and patient enrollment for clinical studies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient-centered studies in pancreatic cancer, extracting and interpreting data for project completion.
  • Collect demographic, molecular, treatment, and clinical outcome data in collaboration with the data science team.
  • Assist in scientific writing, including grant writing and manuscript publication.
  • Coordinate and maintain database systems for managing large volumes of patient/research data.
  • Screen and enroll patients in research protocols, ensuring informed consent is obtained according to federal regulations.
  • Prepare reports and organize protocol binders for active research protocols.
  • Delegate project coordination and carry out fieldwork in consultation with the Principal Investigator.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or a related field is required.
  • Three years of experience in scientific or experimental research work is required; one year of experience is required with a preferred Master's degree.
