About the position

The Senior Research Finance Analyst at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute plays a crucial role in managing post-award research finance tasks while ensuring compliance with sponsor regulations and internal policies. This position involves mentoring junior analysts, leading special projects, and providing exceptional customer service to the research community. The analyst is responsible for the entire lifecycle of grant management, from setup to closeout, and contributes to institutional reporting and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Process a wide variety of post-award management tasks.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to colleagues and the research community.
  • Facilitate the research administration effort within DFCI.
  • Manage complex research portfolios and mentor junior analysts.
  • Lead ad-hoc or special projects and ensure best practices are followed.
  • Oversee post-award project management from setup to closeout, including invoicing and financial reporting.
  • Manage complex grant mechanisms throughout their lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with sponsor rules and DFCI's internal policies.
  • Assist with the annual Uniformed Guidance Audit for federal grants and contracts.
  • Serve as a technical expert and provide guidance to junior analysts.
  • Develop training content and provide ongoing training to staff on grant management processes.
  • Lead the drafting, review, and modification of Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or similar required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in research administration in an academic setting required.
  • Experience with grants regulations required.
  • Experience with all types of award mechanisms, including grants, contracts, subcontracts, and cooperative agreements.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Infoed or a similar grant management system.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
