About the position

As a recognized leader in space science research and spacecraft instrumentation, avionics, and electronics, we are dedicated to revealing the secrets of our solar system and the universe. The position involves conducting analytical or numerical modeling and model analysis studies of problems in solar system dynamics. The successful candidate will engage in observational data analysis that supports model validation and will be responsible for developing and growing an independent research program through external program support. Participation in mission and/or instrument proposals is also expected to support the strategic growth of the Department. Daily responsibilities include independently developing and implementing hypotheses-driven numerical models and data analysis activities. The candidate will configure, initialize, run, and analyze solar system dynamics models to test hypotheses. Maintaining and growing a research program in planetary dynamics through external funding is crucial, as is developing independent collaborations outside of the group. The candidate will also be expected to present and disseminate research results at professional meetings and conferences, as well as submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals.
