About the position

As a Senior Research Specialist/Data Analyst at AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will play a crucial role in supporting aviation operations and operational testing at the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) in Patuxent River, MD, as well as other elite aviator training facilities. This position is ideal for individuals who are highly motivated and passionate about developing creative solutions to complex tactical and force design challenges. You will be part of a 100% employee-owned company, working alongside a team of supportive and driven Subject Matter Experts. Your primary responsibilities will include providing real-time data analysis, applying standard research methodologies to gather, process, and analyze data, and utilizing relevant database software to effectively organize and present data while generating insightful reports. In this role, you will also be responsible for generating compelling visualizations of quantitative datasets and developing a deep understanding of the mission of the Modeling & Simulation Enterprise Applications (MSEA), including the team's major customers. You will participate in team meetings, support preparations for customer interactions, and present and summarize data effectively in both oral and written communication. Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time data analysis to support aviation operations and operational testing.
  • Apply standard research methodologies to gather, process, and analyze data.
  • Use relevant database software to effectively organize and present data and generate reports.
  • Generate compelling visualizations of quantitative datasets.
  • Develop institutional knowledge of the mission of Modeling & Simulation Enterprise Applications (MSEA).
  • Participate in meetings with the team and support preparations for customer interactions.
  • Present and summarize data effectively in oral and written communication.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required).
  • Master's degree in a Scientific Discipline; Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, or Physics or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Skilled in programming (R, Python), statistics, SQL, data visualization, and other data analysis fundamentals.
  • Able to analyze, interpret, summarize, and present data effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts to solve uniquely complex problems.
  • Able to conceptualize and develop solutions, formulate problem statements, and develop analysis methods and approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; experience in packaging analytic results in report format as well as in the development and presentation of oral briefings; interact with and advise senior levels of leadership.
  • Ability to work in an unstructured environment.
