About the position

The Sr. Resident Engineer will lead a team in the design, development, and validation of automotive subsystems for production. This role involves supporting vehicle build processes, interfacing with target platforms, and resolving technical issues proactively. The engineer will also facilitate design reviews, maintain technical documentation, and ensure compliance with hardware delivery requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team executing tasks required to design, develop, and validate an automotive subsystem for production.
  • Support vehicle build process and vehicle signoff activities for prototypes and manufacturing builds.
  • Interface and build relationships with target platforms to create business opportunities.
  • Release assigned parts into the client system and order parts to support build events when requested.
  • Resolve cross-functional process and technical issues proactively.
  • Facilitate subsystem/component Product Development Team (PDT).
  • Facilitate design reviews and peer reviews.
  • Assist with the definition of system/hardware requirements.
  • Incorporate product and process design best practices and lessons learned.
  • Make subsystem/component technical decisions.
  • Provide technical support for the development of timing and ADV plans.
  • Maintain a file of schematics, circuit board layouts, source code, software algorithms, DFMEAs, and specifications.
  • Responsible for packaging of released components.
  • Lead design center activities such as packaging and graphics development.
  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) activities.
  • Develop and input Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution on defined anomalies.
  • Support assembly plant or Tier 1 build events and development events.
  • Resolve issues on assigned component technical specification sections.
  • Investigate design alternatives with suppliers.
  • Lead root cause and resolution to verification and test incidents.
  • Facilitate and expedite the processing of change requests.
  • Develop a software plan with the supplier software team.
  • Maintain and communicate the software plan, including software content and timing.
  • Ensure component hardware delivery requirements are met.
  • Initiate subsystem and component releases in conformance with program timing.
  • Develop problem resolution action plans for subsystem/component issues.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or foreign academic equivalent in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation including Validation Engineer, Test Engineer, or related experience.
  • 2 years of experience with validation of automotive systems.
