About the position

The Sr Risk Control Consultant - Property is responsible for providing in-depth risk assessments and evaluations for complex accounts, working closely with Underwriting to manage and mitigate risks. This role involves building relationships with various stakeholders, conducting detailed risk assessments, and offering solutions to enhance risk management practices. The consultant will serve as a subject matter expert in specific areas and will contribute to the overall success of the Risk Control organization.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Underwriting to select, retain, and grow a profitable book of business.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with Underwriting, Claim, Risk Control Specialists, and Brokers.
  • Complete all lines risk assessment evaluations for diverse businesses with high complexity.
  • Write technically detailed reports that communicate risk assessments and recommendations.
  • Evaluate customer needs through loss analysis and readiness to provide Risk Control products and services.
  • Identify uncontrolled exposures and influence customers to make improvements.
  • Provide solutions for risk mitigation using available resources.
  • Stay current with technical subject matters and regulatory environments.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in specialty areas to support the broader team.
  • Create a valued customer experience through assessments and service encounters.
  • Maintain core responsibilities while taking on higher-level project work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in environmental health and safety, engineering, construction management, or related fields.
  • Seven years of experience in safety, risk control/management, or a related field.
  • Advanced level knowledge of the insurance industry and business acumen.
  • Recognized relevant certifications (such as ASP, CSP, ARM, CFPS).
  • Technical aptitude and detail-oriented approach.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish credibility and rapport quickly.
  • Experience in a collaborative environment.
  • Critical thinking and influencing skills.
  • Ability to negotiate change for optimal outcomes.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in manufacturing or large warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory environments and emerging issues.
