About the position

As a Senior Robotic Engineer within our R&D organization, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare through our next-generation robotic platform. Your expertise will drive model-based design using Simulink and MATLAB, supporting the development, testing, and validation of complex subsystems for our medical robotics system. This role is ideal for an R&D engineer experienced in hardware, real-time control systems, and accurate computer modeling. You will be responsible for defining features, creating requirements, and developing tools within our EVR quality management system. Collaboration with fellow engineers will be essential as you build and implement simulation models for our intricate medical robotics system. You will conduct feasibility studies, design analysis, and product testing using Simulink (including Simulink Real Time) and MATLAB, validating models using lab test data to ensure precise electrical simulations. Additionally, you will resolve design interface and integration issues related to electrical components, document best practices for efficient model-based design, and maintain code libraries to support modular design. Adhering to disciplined test, configuration control, and documentation processes will be critical, as will supporting cross-functional technical and process improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Define features, create requirements, and develop tools within our EVR quality management system.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers to build and implement simulation models for our intricate medical robotics system.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, design analysis, and product testing using Simulink (including Simulink Real Time) and MATLAB.
  • Validate models using lab test data to ensure precise electrical simulations.
  • Resolve design interface and integration issues related to electrical components.
  • Document best practices for efficient model-based design.
  • Maintain code libraries to support modular design.
  • Adhere to disciplined test, configuration control, and documentation processes.
  • Support cross-functional technical and process improvement projects.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in model-based design using Simulink, Simulink RT, and MATLAB for electromechanical test systems in an R&D environment.
  • Minimum 3 years in medical device development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
  • Familiarity with industry best practices for model-based design in electromechanical systems and control.
  • Knowledge of Speedgoat real-time hardware is advantageous.
  • Experience with electronic/electrical system simulation (e.g., PCB analysis, EMI/C simulation, power electronics, thermal analysis).
  • Familiarity with ASME V&V (Verification & Validation) 40.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software using measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.).
  • Competence in electronic design and analysis tools.
  • Exposure to embedded hardware and fieldbus communication protocols (EtherCAT, etc.).
  • Previous involvement in design transfer/new product introduction.
  • Familiarity with statistical tools (e.g., Minitab) and Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration, technical leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to execute tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Speedgoat real-time hardware is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with statistical tools (e.g., Minitab) and Microsoft Azure.
