About the position

The Sr. Robotics Engineer is responsible for the development and standardization of robot software and hardware within Challenge Manufacturing. This role involves communicating these standards to machine builders and production facilities, assisting with their implementation, and auditing adherence to these standards. The engineer will ensure that robotic performance meets the needs of both internal and external customers, while also updating and developing code for various applications used within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties necessary to ensure that robotic performance meets the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Document and communicate CMC robotic performance standards to production plants and machine builders/suppliers.
  • Conduct audits to ensure standardized practices across locations, including integrators.
  • Update/develop code for all common applications used within Challenge.
  • Integrate with process controllers and develop graphical interfaces.
  • Manage firmware/baseware and perform path programming/optimization.
  • Define specifications for new robots, including robot type, controller details, and dress pack details.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Robotics/electronics engineering technology or related field.
  • 5 years' experience with ABB and Fanuc robot programming.
  • Experience developing code in both an offline environment and via the teach pendant.
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics/electronics engineering technology or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience with ABB and Fanuc programming preferred.
  • Familiarity with automotive welding applications preferred.
  • Competency with other robot manufacturers such as Kuka, Nachi, and Motoman.
