As a Sr. Sales Development Representative, you will support the growth of the Electron Microscopy business for biotech and biopharma, by driving market share through lead generation and qualification. Intellectual curiosity and passion will provide the opportunity to grow within the team, both regionally and globally, as well as across the Thermo Fisher organization. You will become part of a large and dynamic sales development team and will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Sales of Biopharma and Biotech as part of the North American Life Science Sales team. You will work directly with specific Account managers to technically support and develop sales in those territories within the market. Your role will involve providing technical/scientific support to accelerate opportunities and identify new customers, explaining how our solution meets customer needs which will require extensive research with potential and existing customers. You will engage with current customers on new technology and capabilities, establish partnerships with existing and new customers, and prospect for new leads in new and/or existing accounts and market segments. Additionally, you will qualify and champion leads for handoff to account managers, perform monthly pipeline reviews with Management and Account Managers, and lead and drive specific campaign rollouts within the team. You will also analyze market trends, customer requirements, and competitive strategy, and find opportunities for growing customer and business value through product positioning and differentiation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the growth of the Electron Microscopy business for biotech and biopharma by driving market share through lead generation and qualification.
  • Provide technical/scientific support to accelerate opportunities and identify new customers.
  • Explain how our solution meets customer needs through extensive research with potential and existing customers.
  • Engage with current customers on new technology and capabilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum education requirement is a Master's Degree in physical or life sciences, material sciences, or engineering; PhD Degree is helpful.
  • A strong background in Structural Biology, protein science, or Biochemistry is required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of Cryo-EM (Electron Microscopy) experience (academic or industry).
  • Sales development experience, particularly with capital equipment, is highly desired.
  • Experience in the drug discovery space in pharma/biotech industry preferred.
  • Ability to generate pipeline and business opportunity leads.
  • Ability to sell strategic and new products.
  • Understand and align with business goals specific to both the pharmaceutical and biotech markets.
  • Build a professional network within the pharma/biotech industrial space.
  • Learn in a continuous education fashion due to the pace of advancement in the field.
  • Ability to increase market share by generating new business leads.
  • Ability to walk prospects through a multiyear sales cycle.
  • Ability to synthesize and integrate customer insights and translate information into product requirements, portfolio strategies, and business recommendations.
  • Experience using sales and prospecting tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Collaborate with and nurture positive relationships with multi-national and cross-functional matrix teams.
