The Senior Sales Representative for Southern Yellow Pine is a key role focused on selling Southern Pine Lumber to a large customer base. This position requires effective communication through various channels, including telephone, email, and in-person interactions. The representative will provide product availability, pricing, and freight rates while ensuring customer satisfaction and meeting sales objectives. The role demands quick adaptation to the sales environment with minimal industry training.

Responsibilities

• Sell Southern Pine Lumber to a customer base purchasing approximately 200 MMBF of SYP lumber.
• Provide industry and product expertise to assigned customers to ensure their success.
• Communicate regularly with management regarding sales results, forecasts, and competitive activities.
• Comply with division credit policies and monitor account base for consistency with assigned parameters.
• Manage sales, inventory, and order files for specific products as assigned.
• Recommend actions regarding product claims and ensure proper investigation procedures are followed.
• Provide market information to the customer base.
• Assist in marketing activities such as presentations and market research.
• Represent the company at industry or association meetings as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of wood products sales experience required, or High School diploma and seven (7) years of wood products sales experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Demonstrated complete product knowledge and special sales ability.
• Ability to plan and execute sales activities for large accounts requiring technical expertise.
• Ability to make short-term pricing decisions consistent with sales office objectives.
• Ability to operate independently within overall sales policies and guidelines.
