In the role of a Senior Salesforce CPQ Engineer, you will be tasked with the design, development, and maintenance of the Salesforce CPQ application. This position requires collaboration with end-users and their management to enhance processes and workflows. You will be responsible for configuring, administering, and customizing the Salesforce CPQ system, which includes writing Apex code, creating custom objects, and developing workflow rules. Your role will also involve maintaining comprehensive technical design documents related to system architecture and ensuring that all business system processes are well understood and documented. You will support the integration of the CPQ application with SAP ERP and take ownership of system configuration and user setup. This includes configuring fields, workflows, roles, permissions, and dashboards. Additionally, you will be responsible for documenting system changes, maintaining standardization, and continuously seeking improvements in processes and procedures. Your expertise will be crucial in validating software quality through testing and identifying defects, as well as collaborating with management and project teams to scope work and produce estimates. You will also provide technical support before and after implementation, ensuring smooth operation and performance of the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, administer and customize SFDC CPQ including Apex code, Custom Objects, Workflow Rules, Custom Fields, Validation Rules and Visual Force Pages.
  • Develop and maintain technical design documents related to system architecture.
  • Maintain a comprehensive view of all business system processes and users to understand functional impacts regarding configuration, process, workflow, and reporting.
  • Support the integration of CPQ application to the SAP ERP.
  • Own system configuration and user setup as needed, including configuring fields, workflows, roles/permissions, page layouts, custom objects, custom record types, reports, and dashboards.
  • Craft and update system documentation including configuration changes, data mapping requirements, functional designs, test cases, and deployment plans as needed.
  • Document, maintain standardization, and seek ways to constantly improve processes & procedures.
  • Validate software quality and conformance to specifications and business requirements through unit-functional testing, identifying root causes of defects and developing fixes.
  • Work with management, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Finance Business team to scope work and produce estimates.
  • Collaborate closely with other solution architects to define and implement effective and efficient solutions to business challenges and opportunities.
  • Provide pre- and post-implementation technical support.
  • Work with SFDC support to resolve issues with Subscription Billing and related applications, maintaining smooth operation and performance of the platform.
  • Prioritize tasks to ensure work is completed in a timely and high-quality manner.
  • Adapt to changing priorities of the business and seek out ways to develop new skills.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of proficiency in deploying and maintaining large scale, technically complex solutions on Salesforce and associated ecosystem.
  • Experience integrating the Salesforce platform with internal and external systems.
  • Deep understanding of overall Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Programming background using languages such as APEX, Visualforce, Java, or Python.
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration architectures such as SOA, RESTful, ETL.
  • A deep understanding of software testing with knowledge on building test plans and executing them in unit, functional, and user acceptance test cycles.
  • Deep understanding of CPQ, SaaS, and subscription billing processes.
  • Understanding of Quoting, Opportunity Management & Order Management processes is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills to set up and interpret logic, data tables, and rule relationships.
  • Desire to learn new technologies and ability to self-train quickly.
  • Understanding of cloud offerings market space concepts.
  • Good interpersonal skills and experience in translating customer business requirements into workable technical solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Salesforce CPQ and Subscription Billing applications.
