About the position

The Senior Scientist position at Antech is a pivotal role that involves leading a team dedicated to the design and development of Immunoassays for veterinary diagnostic testing. This hybrid role is based out of our Hub located in Loveland, Colorado, and reports directly to the Director of Assay Development. The Senior Scientist will not only oversee the scientific and technical aspects of assay development but will also play a crucial role in the technical transfer of these products into the manufacturing process. This position is integral to driving the future of pet health as part of Mars Science & Diagnostics, a family-owned company focused on veterinary care. In this role, the Senior Scientist will provide leadership and management to lower-level team staff, translating business goals into actionable development plans. Responsibilities include overseeing experimental designs and processes to ensure compliance and high-quality output. The Senior Scientist will lead the team in developing and validating assays for diagnostic tests, providing guidance around instrumentation and analysis solutions that enhance the productivity of assay development teams. Additionally, the role involves taking ownership of all data analysis from diagnostic instruments, developing appropriate data analysis algorithms, and assisting assay development teams in experimental design. The Senior Scientist will also partner with Software and Hardware Engineering staff to define the necessary requirements for the assay and will be a member of the Tech Transfer team, ensuring a smooth transition of the assay into the manufacturing area. Participation in special projects and assignments as required is also expected, making this a dynamic and engaging position within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for the design and development of Immunoassays for veterinary diagnostic testing.
  • Translate business goals into actionable development plans and assign tasks to team members.
  • Oversee experimental designs and processes to ensure compliance and high-quality output.
  • Develop and validate assays for diagnostic tests, providing guidance on instrumentation and analysis solutions.
  • Take ownership of data analysis from diagnostic instruments, developing appropriate algorithms and methods.
  • Assist and educate assay development teams on data analysis and experimental design.
  • Provide technical leadership within product development core teams.
  • Collaborate with Software and Hardware Engineering staff on assay requirements.
  • Ensure a smooth transition of the assay into the manufacturing area as part of the Tech Transfer team.
  • Participate in special projects and assignments as required.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related fields preferred.
  • BS/MS with 10 years of experience or PhD with a minimum of 5 years prior assay development industry experience.
  • Prior documented program leadership experience including full cycle management of product or program.
  • Experience in designing and developing Point-of-Care products strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical data analysis.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to translate scientific and technical information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in applying analytical skills in experimental design.
  • Prior experience in leading lower-level scientific staff.
