About the position

The Sr Scientist I, AI / ML position at AbbVie focuses on advancing AI and machine learning technologies within the Computational Drug Discovery group. The role involves developing innovative methods for molecular generation and drug-target interaction prediction, leveraging AI/ML to enhance drug design capabilities. The candidate will collaborate with various disciplines to accelerate drug discovery processes, utilizing state-of-the-art modeling and simulation technologies.

Responsibilities

• Identify, develop, optimize, validate, and deploy innovative methods for molecular generation and drug-target interaction prediction.
• Collaborate with internal computational chemistry and cheminformatics groups to enhance drug discovery processes.
• Utilize AI/ML technologies to improve molecular design capabilities.
• Implement, debug, and maintain computational tools in common programming languages.
• Leverage cloud computing capabilities for computational solutions.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Cheminformatics, Chemical Engineering, or related field with relevant experience (10+ years for BS, 8+ years for MS, 0-3+ years for PhD).
• Expertise in developing and deploying machine learning models related to chemical and biological data.
• Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with data science libraries such as numpy, pandas, and scikit-learn.
• Experience with deep learning platforms like Pytorch, Tensorflow, or Keras.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to colleagues and collaborators.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with KNIME, Pipeline Pilot, or other automation interfaces.
• Experience with modern deep learning architectures such as GNN, CNN, RNN, Transformer, GCNN, and MPNN.
• Knowledge of machine learning paradigms like generative models, GAN, and active learning.
