About the position
In this role you will initiate and conduct research and development activities to acquire and enlarge scientific knowledge and/or to develop new products and technologies in line with the overall R&D strategy.
Responsibilities
- Work with sales, product line management, plant chemists, technical applications management, legal, and technical product management, as well as being a key interface with our customer's R&D representatives.
- Manage the needs of the overall organization while delighting the customer, ensuring positive technical and financial results for FOM.
- Develop technology that meets customer needs with significant autonomy, understanding customer requirements and translating them to chemistry.
- Solve tough problems in the technical arena of optics, which are notoriously demanding.
- Supervise and absorb externally generated knowledge within Covestro.
- Lead projects with a convincing impact and initiate long-term developments using specialized area expertise.
- Participate in meetings with customers and use technical insights from the market to shape future work.
Requirements
- PhD in chemistry with 15+ years experience required.
- High degree of technical know-how in the area of UV chemistry and formulation chemistry.
- Experience transferring new products and innovations into manufacturing.
- Understanding of how liquid chemistry determined in the laboratory translates into fiber optic draw tower and cable processing performance.
